Lemonade Dreams

We’ve all heard the expression “making lemonade out of lemons” right? We’ve been making lemonade as a group for many years now. Just when we get the flow figured out, something else comes along and we’re adjusting, making changes to the way we do things. We’re good at rolling with it.

This new virus did just that for our group. And we made some tasty lemonade from it too! We’ve been sharing excess food to our community for a few years now and enjoy meeting people who could use a little help. With our usual avenues shut down for 6 weeks, we’ve had to adapt and change the way we do things. This led to making up boxes/bags of pre-sorted items that we then share out to families who request one. While a whole lot more work on our end, the gratitude coming from our community has been wonderful to see and hear. Twice a week we’ve been able to bless approximately 35 families each time. While social distancing is in practice, we’ve kept people in their vehicles and paced their arrivals to minimize contact.

The outpouring of support has been wonderful too!! We even had a lady offer to make us masks!! How cool is that? The wonderful comments are much appreciated too!

“I am sure this format of sharing food has been a lot more work for you all. I just have to say, I’m incredibly thankful for all that you do and for you being creative to help meet the needs of the community during this time? I also happen to LOVE receiving a ‘surprise’ box of food, MUCH more than trying to shop on normal share days! Please know you and all you do is appreciated”

“I really love the box system.”

“Thank you very much for giving that relief to my family with the food. I am too grateful to you and all who take care of all this. I have 4 children, one of them with special needs, and on behalf of all… thank you.”

“Thank you for the box of food! We baked banana bread and added some of the coconut flakes.❤️”

So, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade…although I prefer lemon meringue pie instead!!!
