Preventing Waste And Benefiting Our Community

Food Rescue of Sky Valley (FRSV) is a non-profit organization serving the Sky Valley region of Snohomish County in Washington State. We work to reduce food and goods waste by re-distributing to the community where those items can be used.

The Problem

“In the United States, food waste is estimated at between 30-40 percent of the food supply.”

How We Help

Our partnerships with local businesses allow us to collect items that would be discarded and deliver them to people who can use them most.

Local Organizations

Throughout the week, our team distributes food to private organizations that help people in our local community. The Boys and Girls Club, Take the Next Step, Matthew House and Women’s Gospel Mission are a few of the locations we service on a regular basis.

Community Food Share

Twice a week, our group hosts a community food share for all to come benefit from our food recovery work. We ask participants to please take and share the food to neighbors, friends and all in need; the goal is to minimize what needs to be thrown out.

Farmers and Recycling

Spoiled, aged, or undesirable foods can still be used for feeding animals. We maintain connections with local animal farmers for this purpose.

What It Takes

The vision of Food Rescue of Sky Valley is to establish an environmentally sound, full circle use of resources by reducing waste, assisting businesses in lowering their carbon footprint, and aiding families and individuals within our community. This is best accomplished through a closely unified volunteer team, a clearly delegated set of responsibilities, and donations from supporters like you!
